My Movie Hall Experience

For the first xx :-) years of my life, I have been to a movie hall only twice. Over the years, I have seen many movies but only those that were aired on the television channels. So, when people talked about their movie-hall experience, the seats, sounds, ambience, I tried to recollect what I saw in those two trips. But, apart from a dark hall with a blown-up TV screen, I could hardly recall any details. And it seemed to be no big deal! Nothing spectacular.

And then I was taken to a movie-hall. The film was about the crisis in Burma and the atrocities committed by the Burmese military. The blazing hand guns, machine guns, mine blasts, and the accompanying background score—the noise deafened me. The violence shook me up.

But, all this truly awakened me to the ‘movie-hall experience’. It’s more than just a blown-up TV screen and people eating pop-corns. It IS spectacular.

Since that day, I made 5 trips to a movie hall. Considering my past record, this count is very good!

Two friends, who truly appreciate films, sit and read (with reading glasses and all that) the entire credit list as it goes scrolling up on the screen. By then, most other viewers would have filled out through the Exit doors. And that sight of the keen pair of eyes, awakened me to yet another aspect! People who worked hours to create the movie get less than a minute of the screen time. And people who work to maintain the movie-hall get no screen time!

I acknowledge and thank all of you for my movie-hall experience.
